For years, I’ve worked multiple jobs as a housekeeper, dishwasher, and line cook in the USA to support my children back home in Jamaica. This year, Hurricane Melissa devastated my home and community, but it also cleared my vision for the future. I realized I could no longer trade every hour of my life for a paycheck that a single storm could take away.
